A classic adventure game remade for iPad, Mac and PC is preparing for a September launch, as Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition lays out the details concerning new characters, extra quests, and other improvements.

The original game put developer BioWare firmly on the map, and the studio has since gone on to explore action adventure and narrative storytelling in Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Within Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition lie three new recruitable characters (a monk, a half-elf, and a half-orc), a new adventure in the Black Pits, and various graphical updates.

The iPad and eventual Android versions will retail at half the price of the Mac and PC downloads - US$9.99 (RM30) compared to US$19.99 (RM60), in part because tablet adventurers will be able to obtain the monk, half-elf and half-orc via in-app purchasing - a scheme that also extends to new player voices and portraits.

It's the tablet versions that are potentially the most interesting of the selection, as GOG.com already offers a US$9.99 (RM30) PC version that can be upgraded via various fan-made modifications.

Also, another neat trick it has up its sleeve is cross-platform multiplayer, allowing players of the Mac, PC, iPad and Android versions to team up together regardless of the device they're using to do so. - Relaxnews 2012
